Sunetra Eye Camp

On 1^st of November 2011, we Team Shakti from 3^rd year Mechanical Engineering & Computer Science and Engineering of Amrita School of Engineering conducted a free EYE-CHECK UP camp in the college campus with the motive of spreading awareness about eye-care and also conducting eye-checkups for the students, faculties and other staff from various departments from all over the college.

For conducting the eye-checkup 7 doctors were invited from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (AIMS), Cochin. The eye-checkup was carried out in three steps:

1)   The vision checkup was carried out in which the eye-power is checked for which the subject must read out the letters on the eye-chart.

2)   In case of any vision problem free medicines were given to the subjects.

3)   The doctors advised the subjects on how to take proper care of the eye and how their vision problem can be rectified.

TALK ON LASIK

The event also included a talk on LASIK which is commonly referred to as laser eye surgery which is a viable alternative to wearing corrective eyeglasses or contact lenses.

The doctor mentioned that the surgery has a satisfaction range of 92-98 percent and is approved for age above 18.

The doctor also made aware about the importance of eye donation and inspired everyone to pledge our eyes for donation.

The event was a huge success with around 260 check-ups been conducted which included students, faculties, and staff of the institute. The talk was attended by around 100 people.

Comments and feedbacks were taken from everyone coming to the camp and the feedback was very positive as they all were made aware about the condition of their eyes and how to take care of it.


Last  But not the least We specially thank Bijuji (Chairman of CIR ) , Aji Sir who guided us to success of our project and other faculties who have helped us. We also thank All my friends who extended their help on the day of our project to make it a Grand Success........
